The United Nations University Global Seminar series is held nationwide to encourage students and adults to become interested in or simply aware of the roles played by the United Nations and the global issues facing mankind. In this Hokkaido Session, we will provide students and young people aspiring to help address challenges facing the international community with an opportunity to ascertain the state of achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and consider the relationship between their research programs/career plans and the MDGs. The goals were established in 2000, and half the implementation period toward the 2015 deadline has now passed. This seminar will redirect focus onto related matters based on the recognition that achieving the MDGs will serve as a litmus test of efforts to realize a sustainable society.
