Hokkaido University and the Italian Academic and Research Institutions with the patronage of the Italian Embassy of Japan are delighted to announce a joint sponsored event titled, the “Italy-Hokkaido Bilateral Cooperation in Innovative ICT: -New Frontiers in Info-Mobility and Intelligent Transportation Systems” to be held on December 4, 2008.
The collaboration between Italy and Hokkaido has gained strength and the joint projects carried on by the Torino Wireless Foundation and the NOASTEC Foundations, together with their respective partners, have set the stage for deeper bilateral collaboration.
Earlier this year, another significant event took place. An Academic Exchange Agreement to promote collaboration in research and educational activities between Hokkaido University and the Politecnico di Torino was signed.
This most recent event, evidenced by the stature of the Italian participants-- among them the President of the Politecnico di Torino and the President of the Piemonte Chamber of Commerce-- is a clear demonstration of their desire to strengthen the existing collaboration with Hokkaido.
Session three of the event features a demonstration in panoramic video streaming from the Mobeyes Project--a joint research project launched by the Istituto Superiore Mario Boella, an applied research center in Turin, Italy, and the Graduate School of Information Science & Technology of Hokkaido University.
